For the past few years, leading radiator manufacturer Stelrad has supported one of its chosen local charities – the Bluebell Wood Children’s Hospice – in its fundraising activities as it helps local people to recycle Christmas trees after the Christmas holiday.
This year’s campaign was the biggest and best so far with over 70 companies contributing in various ways – being drop off points, collectors, recycling partners, driver’s mates and advertising outlets. In 2024 the Hospice raised just over £30,000 and collected 1494 trees, This year the Hospice raised £48,018 and collected 2,069 trees.
Paul Johnson, NDC Operative at Stelrad went out on 8th January with a Stelrad vehicle and collected from 32 premises to contribute to the overall numbers. Those recycling their trees were asked to donate £15 to have their tree collected and many people donated significantly more than that – with the average donation exceeding £23.
Regional Fundraiser for the Bluebell Wood Children’s Hospice is Philippa Colley: “It’s been a phenomenal effort again this year especially with the challenges thrown up by the adverse weather conditions we experienced. This success would not have been possible without the help of all our supporters and we’re grateful again to Stelrad and to Paul for their contribution. We’ll be doing it all again next year!”
Stelrad Radiators has already volunteered for next year’s campaign.
