2024 HIP Female Skills Competition – we have a winner!

We are thrilled to announce Daisy Turner from Barking & Dagenham College as the HIP Female Skills Competition 2024 Winner, following an intense grand final, on the 18th of April at Stephenson College, in Coalville. Ciah Hooch Llewellyn Davies from Gower College Swansea secured the runner-up spot.

Adding to her accolades, Daisy also clinched the title of HIP Learner of the Year, making this a remarkable double win! Overwhelmed with joy, Daisy shared, “Winning both the HIP Female Skills Competition and the HIP Learner of the Year Competition in the space of a week has been unbelievable! I’ll be preparing for World Skills next week! I’d encourage anyone considering entering next year to absolutely go for it!”

The competition began in February, with Level 2 and 3 plumbing students competing in three regional locations across the UK. The judges undertook a difficult task, carefully whittling down the exceptional entries to just six finalists at the regional competitions, before announcing the winner and runner-up at this week’s grand final.

Zoe Tanner, Managing Director at HIP, commented: “This year’s final was truly inspiring, displaying not just exceptional skill but the sheer passion these women have for the trade. The energy and support at the final shows the significant strides we are making in fostering an inclusive industry. Congratulations to everyone who took part, and especially to Daisy on her double win!”

The competition was supported by prominent industry leaders, including Stelrad, and the Chartered Institute of Plumbing and Heating Engineering (CIPHE). Jerry Whiteley, Technical Manager at the CIPHE, served as the competition’s head judge.
