Stelrad’s Vita Deco Vertical and Silhouette horizontal radiators have been chosen by Quintain to provide heat in an exceptional new build to rent (BTR) residential development in London. There are 396 apartments across three separate buildings at Wembley Park offering one, two, three and four bedroom homes. Affordable homes within private rented and discount market rented tenures account for 27% of the apartments. The development also offers private communal residential landscaped gardens, car parking spaces for residents use, commercial units, a health centre and associated infrastructure.
Repton Gardens is comprised of three buildings, within a stone’s throw of the impressive Wembley Stadium and Wembley Arena entertainment facilities and is an important contribution to the buildings that continue to be developed around the stadium. It provides a thriving new residential area with all the amenities required by a new area to grow and succeed as a high-quality location for residents of all generations keen to rent their homes and settle in an exciting and new environment with everything they need to enjoy life available to them on their doorstep.
A short walk from Repton Gardens is London Designer Outlet which as well as retail includes a range of restaurants and entertainment venues that helps to make this a vibrant and lively new community in which to live and work. The three buildings are known as Birch House, Cherry House and Aspen House and in total will deliver 396 BTR homes to be run by Quintain’s rental management platform Quintain Living as well as providing 1000sqm of ground-floor retail space, and a 1,200sqm GP surgery, due to open in 2024. The development includes a large private landscaped garden at the heart of the development featuring a children’s play area and an outdoor kitchen/BBQ area for residents to use in their leisure time.
The M&E contractor for the seven-acre development is Cilantro, working with McLaren as Main Contractor and Quintain/Quintain Living as developer and operator. The heating system on this development consists of a site-wide district heating network that provides low temperature hot water, domestic hot water and boosted cold water service. Stelrad’s radiators were selected for this development as they are simple to install, readily available in quantity and an aesthetically pleasing option for these modern, high-quality homes.
Modern radiators offer sustainability with carefully designed waterways reducing the amount of water required in a heating system when compared with older products. The heat is due to convection with air in each room being drawn up behind the radiator through the fins attached at the back and heated as it passes over the metal panels and fins forming the heating part of the radiators.
Stelrad has an impressive, published sustainability strategy that sees the business striving to achieve environmental targets. In recent years it has made significant improvements in the areas of raw materials use, the use of recycled materials, the achievement of lower energy usage and a number of energy reductions in its logistics and distribution outcomes. These are attractive to many developers seeking partners that take sustainability seriously.
“We’re delighted to be involved in this prestigious development,” says Stelrad’s Projects Manager, Dominic Hills. “We’ve been working alongside Quintain for many years making them aware of the benefits working with Stelrad can offer and it was rewarding to be given the chance to work with Quintain on this sizeable contract. We’re optimistic that we will be able to build this relationship and work with them on future projects here and elsewhere in the UK and Ireland.”
“We’ve been impressed by the work we’ve done with Stelrad,” says David Keddie at Quintain Living. “We have high expectations of the partners we work with and we want the products we select to add value to the overall development and the individual apartments that we offer to tenants. The Vita Deco and Vita Silhouette radiators we chose match the décor perfectly and are straightforward to install. They offer good looking, reliable and effective heating appliances that meet our requirements and those of the tenants who will live in these properties.”
The Wembley Park community continues to grow with significant development and opportunities for Stelrad to provide radiators in the many thousands of properties being built here. It is fast becoming the ‘build to rent’ exemplar, especially in London. People are increasingly opting to live in well designed and maintained buildings that offer a vibrant community and range of amenities in addition to their apartment, and also have excellent connections into central London.
