Stelrad radiators have been selected for public areas of a major new building in the Aston area of Birmingham. Enterprise Wharf is a significant new development within Bruntwood SciTech’s Innovation Birmingham campus. The designer flat fronted Planar radiators selected for the project blend seamlessly with the modern décor of the impressive new building.
Bruntwood SciTech is the UK’s leading developer of city-wide innovation ecosystems and specialist environments.
Enterprise Wharf sets the tone for future development in a gateway position that is attractive to high profile businesses in the ‘grow on’ stage of their development.
The EPC A rated, 10 storey, 120,000 sq ft building has been developed for innovative occupiers to offer an innately tech-enabled environment to its users. The embedded SMART building infrastructure will optimise user experience and wellbeing, reduce emissions and lower operational costs. New technologies, including state-of-the-art ‘Internet of Things’ sensors, have been embedded throughout the building, forming a ‘central nervous system’ that will provide insights into people flow, energy usage and temperature within different areas of workspaces.
Enterprise Wharf forms part of the masterplan for Birmingham Innovation Quarter (B-IQ), which was unveiled earlier this year by Bruntwood SciTech, Aston University and Birmingham City Council, and is aimed at building the city’s reputation as an internationally renowned tech and health innovation hub.
“We’re delighted our Planar design flat fronted designer radiators were chosen for this impressive new development,” says Stelrad’s Stuart Dixon, Specification Manager for Central England. “We have provided various models from our designer flat fronted range for this building – in white and anthracite grey – and we’re pleased with how they look as you walk around the corridors and other public areas including the stair wells and the toilet facilities. The heating for the main floor plates is provided by open VRF powered systems but combine effectively with the traditional heating options that provide heated water to circulate throughout our radiators on the ten floors of the building.”
