A devastating fire back in September 2019 ravaged 22 apartments in a block of 92 homes overlooking the River Clyde in Glasgow. Lancefield Quay offers a mix of one, two and three bedroomed apartments with balconies and conservatories overlooking the river. All residents have now successfully moved back into their homes following extensive refurbishment work that included new heating systems and the use of Stelrad’s Compact with Style design radiators to share heat around the homes. In all more than 130 radiators were incorporated in the restoration activity.
The meticulous restoration of the fire-damaged homes required extensive stakeholder engagement to ensure that each apartment was designed to the owners specifications and approval. Working closely with project management specialists Nixon who delivered full suite of services in the restoration, the Linear Design & Construct specialist team got to grips with each owners particular design requirements, providing the quality of workmanship and product throughout the project. The radiators were installed by Blantyre Park Services, who were the appointed heating engineers. They use various Stelrad product ranges across many projects throughout Scotland and worked closely with Stelrad’s man in Scotland – Scott McDonald – throughout this particular project.
Due to its busy city centre and riverside location the project required careful planning and logistics. The collaborative team responsible for the works was able to overcome the challenges presented through excellent forward planning and engagement with Glasgow City Roads Department and the supply chain contractors that had craning requirements.

We supplied the radiators through locally based merchant William Wilson. It’s another key project that we have been able to assist in Scotland, one of many currently being addressed across the country.”
