Lake District cottage refurbished with heat pump and Stelrad radiators

LAKE DISTRICT COTTAGE REFURBISHED WITH HEAT PUMP AND STELRAD RADIATORS

A picturesque South Lakes former farmers cottage in Cumbria has been the subject of a full refurbishment that has seen a new heating system powered by an air source heat pump installed. The exceptional property features the heat pump, UFH and radiators from leading manufacturer Stelrad.

The property now has a mix of underfloor heating downstairs and new Stelrad radiators upstairs to provide the comfort heating this old stone cottage needs to keep cosy in the colder months of the year. The cottage has also had an extension built that saw an existing well covered and made into a feature in the refurbished home – with thick glass over the well and lighting down it to make it a real aesthetic feature of this newly renovated property.

The work has been carried out by contractor Roland Hill from Wigtown in Cumbria. Roland Hill Ltd is an award-winning family run business with the 4th generation now working within the business to maintain the same level of excellent quality service it has been providing for the last 70 years. The business over time has naturally expanded and now offers services from construction to renewable energies and everything in between. The company’s main goal is to continue to provide the high-quality standards and workmanship that as a family business it has prided itself in over the years.

The Stelrad radiators utilised in the refurbishment are smart, grey coloured, flat fronted Planar radiators – both horizontal and vertical models, and a Caliente towel rail in the bathroom.

“We were delighted to supply the radiators for this refurbishment project,” says Lewis Aird, Stelrad’s Specification Manager for the North. “It’s important that people realise how well radiators can perform in renewable heating installations particularly in refurbishment projects. It’s simply a case of sizing the radiators properly to meet the needs of the heat pump being used in the property.”
