There’s a massively impressive school in south west London, literally just south of the River Thames towards the western most end of the traditional university boat race course in Barnes, that has recently selected radiators from leading manufacturer Stelrad to share the warmth around the school buildings.
St Paul’s School is an independent school offering an outstanding, all-round education for gifted boys aged 7 to 18 years. It was founded in 1509 by John Colet, then Dean of St Paul’s Cathedral, to educate boys “from all nations and countries indifferently”, regardless of race, creed or social background.
In March 2020, the school completed the redevelopment of the Senior School. The final elements of this project were the award winning General Teaching Buildings which offer a central Atrium, John Colet Hall and Chapel, contemporary dining, the Kayton Library and many light airy classrooms overlooking the Thames and playing fields. It is a stunning place to undertake your education.
When this refurbishment was being undertaken, the heating system was upgraded and the means of sharing heat around the school to make it warm and comfortable for the pupils and staff was upgraded using a selection of horizontal Stelrad Compact radiators in the classrooms and Compact with Style vertical radiators in the communal areas, including the corridors.
The radiators were fitted by mechanical and electrical engineers Brith Services. In all, more than 120 radiators were installed in the school – 68 vertical Compact with Style and 53 Compact K3s. The timing of the installation has seen most pupils working from home due to the pandemic but it’s hoped that the pupils have been in school soon, and able to benefit from the new radiators and all the new equipment installed in the school as part of its refurbishment.
“We’re delighted that our radiators were selected as part of this impressive refurbishment project at St Pauls School,” says Chris Harvey, Head of Marketing at Stelrad. “We’re seeing our radiators chosen for a large number of school heating system upgrades up and down the country and we’re always pleased to see them selected for prestigious projects such as this one.”
