Leading radiator manufacturer Stelrad Radiators has been proud to be involved in a project in the Midlands that sees an independent charity providing a range of services for veterans from across the armed services – predominantly for veterans living in Warwickshire, Coventry, Nuneaton and Solihull.
The Veterans Contact Point is a local military charity that achieved charity status back in 2014 and set about delivering a modern, comfortable base from which its services could be delivered. As well as the HQ in Nuneaton it has since also established Centres in Atherstone, Dordon and is currently developing a third in Stratford-upon-Avon.
Stelrad was contacted by contractors Balfour Beatty and asked if they would be willing to contribute to this charitable project. After finding out more about the charity it offered to help by providing LST radiators – highly effective heat emitters but protected by casings that never exceed 43 degrees C – offering ‘safe to touch’ heating in circumstances where older or vulnerable people might be in close proximity.
Stelrad’s LST range is the largest in the UK and sees a wide range of sizes and shapes available and a choice of casing designs – from the flat white casings used in this project to vertically lined ‘Deco’ casings. Stelrad LST Standard Radiators align with NHS guidance for ‘safe hot water and surface temperature’ and are finished with antibacterial paint for extra protection when contact is made with them. The LST Standard Radiator is suitable for homes, private and government work buildings and anywhere where a low surface temperature is ideal. Customer protection is the number one priority in the production of the Stelrad LST Standard, which is what makes them the safest radiators you can buy in the UK.
“We were delighted to be involved in this project,” says Stelrad’s Head of Marketing, Chris Harvey. “We have a track record of being generous as a business when we are called upon for support in these circumstances and we were delighted to supply a selection of vertical and horizontal LST radiators. It’s an impressive building and we’re delighted to be able to help the country’s veterans in a small way through this innovative building and concept.”
The Veterans Contact Point is reliant on donations from individuals and companies willing to support the role they play in the veterans’ community. Run entirely by volunteers – most of whom are veterans themselves, the charity is committed to helping veterans in any way they can providing information, advice and referrals to a wide range of specialist organisations and service charities that are ready to help veterans in need. Their role was enhanced during the darkest days of the Covid Pandemic – with more than 250 food parcels distributed to veterans struggling to provide sufficient food for themselves and their families.
