The University of Cumbria has selected Stelrad’s Compact with Style radiators to provide the heat around an impressive new teaching building on its Lancaster campus.
The main contractor on the site was Vinci Construction UK and the M&E Contractor was locally based Chris Bowker Limited. The project was overseen by the University’s in-house Capital Development Team. The building features 63 of Stelrad’s Compact with Style radiators in a variety of sizes, both horizontal and vertical to provide comfort for students in a number of teaching rooms and an impressive new lecture theatre. The radiators also heat the communal areas, the corridors and the toilets in the building. Compact with Style is a flat fronted radiator design with a subtle, lined architectural pattern and this design is proving equally popular with public building projects and new build residential developments.
“This is a prestigious new building on our campus and we wanted something striking and perhaps a little different to a standard radiator to match the other features we decided to include here,” says Dan Jones the University’s M&E Projects Manager. “The Compact with Style does what the name suggests and adds a little extra style to the building and we’re very pleased with the results now the building is finished and ready to use day to day.”
“We were delighted to install these radiators on the project,” says M&E Contractor Chris Bowker Limited’s Joe Turner. “We work with Stelrad radiators regularly and they are straightforward to install and arrive in excellent protective packaging so we know that we can get on with the job when we are faced with Stelrad radiators as the emitters of choice on a project.”
Stelrad’s Business Development Manager for the area is Eric Aylesbury: “This was an excellent project to win and we were delighted to be specified for this impressive new building on the University’s campus. We’ve always experienced great take up for our products in the north-west on residential developments, but increasingly we are seeing our designer radiators selected for prestigious public building projects such as this one. It’s a combination of quality, good looking product, ease of installation, simple and rapid availability and a keen price that makes these products so popular.”
