Large Radiators FAQs
How Do I Check If a Large Radiator Will Fit My Room?
If you are unsure about the size you need, whether it’s a large room or a compact one, you can use our radiator size calculator to match products to your requirements. You’ll need to measure the wall space where you want the large radiator to go as well as the gap between connecting pipes so that you can easily install. If you’re looking for vertical options, ensure you’ve measured the vertical wall space you have too and decide on how much of the space you want the radiator to take up.
Can a Radiator Be Too Big For a Room?
Some designs of radiators may look overly large or small depending on the room. A large double radiator, for example, may look too bulky if in a small room, so finding the right fit is essential. When taking measurements, it’s best to allow plenty of space around the radiator so the wall isn’t completely filled. Also, choosing the wrong size radiator may not heat the room adequately or be energy efficient, meaning having to run for longer to heat larger rooms if too small and vice versa.
Are Large Radiators Expensive to Run?
This will depend on many variables and how well insulated the room is. If you have a room that is single glazed compared to double glazed, the heat will escape much quicker and ultimately cost more to keep at a comfortable temperature. By working out the BTU (British Thermal Unit) requirement, you can determine how much energy you need to heat a room. You can do this using our heat loss calculator. Generally, choosing a large radiator will mean you can heat a room quicker than with a small one, so you won’t have to run it for as long. However, room sizes vary, so it is best to calculate heat loss before purchasing.
