STELRAD HELPS OUT WITH LATEST DIY SOS PROJECT IN BLACKPOOL
Over the years, leading radiator manufacturer Stelrad has happily responded to requests from BBC One’s DIY SOS programme, providing radiators and towel rails to projects around the country where the team have been able to improve the living conditions of countless families through the kindness and generosity of in the main local tradespeople who have willingly given their time for free to achieve the outcomes needed for each individual project.
In addition, countless manufacturers have supplied products free of charge to the programme and Stelrad is just one of these.
The latest project – undertaken for a programme that will be aired in November in conjunction with Children in Need – is the total revamp of a property in Blackpool called Blenheim House that will be a new centre for Blackpool’s young carers. The programme put out a request for a huge range of products including specialist timber, waste removal, grab lorries and more than 1,000 plants! In addition of course, it needed a new heating system and that’s where Stelrad radiators came in rather handy.
Because of the type of building it is, the request was for Low Surface Temperature (LST) radiators – and Stelrad just happens to manufacture the leading range of LSTs in the country and it has supplied sixteen of these excellent radiators to provide the bulk of the heating around the centre. LST radiators ensure that the surface temperature of the radiator never exceeds 43° C making them safe to touch and ensuring no one young, elderly or vulnerable can receive burns should they find themselves leaning against or wedged against a radiator for whatever reason. The radiator is supplied and fitted with a casing that is fitted to the wall to ensure that neither the radiator or the pipework is exposed.
Stelrad’s Paul Barlow is the company’s Business Development Manager for the North West and North Wales: “This is a major project and one of the most ambitious that DIY SOS has entered into. There were more than 150 trades people on site every day of the project! We were delighted to be able to contribute in a small way to this impressive project and we’re looking forward to seeing the programme aired later in the year. Our LST’s are specified and installed in hospitals, nursing and care homes, schools and nurseries and a host of other buildings across the country, ensuring the heat requirements of the buildings whilst protecting those who live or visit the buildings where they are fitted.”
