STELRAD WINS COMMUNITY SPIRIT AWARD IN NATIONAL AWARDS SCHEME
Leading radiator manufacturer Stelrad’s kind-hearted employees have been recognised for the excellent fund-raising activities they carry out all year for local and national charities. They were crowned winners of the Heating & Ventilating Review’s Community Spirit Award at the 2019 10th Anniversary HVR Awards at the Tower Hotel in London last week.
Stelrad – one of three companies shortlisted – was recognised for its Local Support programme, primarily for its support of the local BlueBell Wood Children’s Hospice, but also for its support of Mexborough Rangers Football Club, to whom it gave its sports ground as a permanent base and donated football kits for all 7 teams for the club. There is also the companies on-going support for the local Montagu Hospital Comforts Fund through its annual sponsorship of the Montagu Cup Football Competition – something its been involved in for several years. Furthermore, the company supports a number of other local causes, through matching donations raised by its employees for a variety of events including sponsored walks and sporting activities.
“The team of employees we have at Stelrad is a kind and generous one as you can see from the generosity that has been evident over the years,” says Stelrad’s HR Manager Lisa Chambers. “We look forward to building on these activities and making further impact in our local area in the years ahead. Winning this award is very special for the employees at Stelrad. We’re really grateful to everyone who voted for us to get this award.”
The event also provided guests to the awards dinner the opportunity to give something back, as those in attendance were invited to play a game of charity ‘Heads & Tails’ in aid of Stelrad’s chosen charities: Bluebell Wood Children’s Hospice and Cancer Research UK Children & Young People. The amount of money raised will be split between the two charities.
Following the success of the event, journal manager of HVR magazine, Sharon Holloway commented: “The year’s winners are great advocates for our industry. I would like to thank everyone who entered and voted, our judges, those who attended and the sponsors of the event – without their support, occasions like this wouldn’t be possible.”
