The finalists for this year’s HIP Female Skills Competition have been announced! This year, six outstanding students have been chosen to compete in the Grand Final, set to take place at Stephenson College in Coalville, on 18th April.
During three regional heats in February and March, Level 2 and 3 plumbing students from colleges across England demonstrated their skills. Through rigorous marking, often with very close scores, this year’s regional winners have been revealed:
Sharna Wringly-Sothcott, Yeovil College
Sophie Maguire, City College Norwich
Maizie Williams, St Helen’s College
Ciah Hooch Llewellyn Davies, Gower College Swansea
Daisy Turner, Barking & Dagenham College
Megan Emerson, New College Durham
Zoe Tanner, Managing Director at HIP, commented: “The standard of skill shown by each competitor has been fantastic! Each student should feel immensely proud of their achievement in taking part. This event is an essential stepping stone in empowering women, boosting their confidence to take part in mixed-gender competitions and make a significant contribution to the trade. We’re thrilled to see such widespread industry support.”
The event is supported by Stelrad and other industry giants like Grohe (Headline Sponsor), Aalberts IPS, CT1, Grundfos, Kingspan, Milwaukee, Viessmann, WD-40, Wolseley Plumb & Parts, Snickers Workwear, Talon, The Worshipful Company of Plumbers, Yorkshire Copper Tube, Fix Radio and the Chartered Institute of Plumbing and Heating Engineering (CIPHE).
