What Are Green Compact Radiators?
We introduced the Stelrad Green Series Green Compact radiator earlier this year and have received great feedback ever since, with customers reporting on its efficiency and sustainability which supports a more sustainable future. In addition to being manufactured using renewable energy, reducing CO2 emissions at the source, our Green Compact radiators are packaged using zero plastic, minimising waste and pollution.
What makes Green Compact radiators really stand out, however, is the process used to make them. Optemis Carbon Lite significantly lowers CO2 emissions at the source, making it possible to have 90% Green Steel for these radiators, accompanied by a Det Norske Veritas (DNV) certification for verification. This means that with every purchase, customers are directly contributing to a reduction in atmospheric CO2.
What’s more, this production method doesn’t change the output of the radiator, meaning that our Green Compact Radiators deliver the same efficiency as our other best-selling radiators but with a lower environmental impact.

The Shift Towards Green Steel in Radiator Production
We want to support the industry’s move towards 100% green energy, and it starts with our Green Series range. Our Green Compact radiators are manufactured using renewable energy and Optemis Carbon Lite thanks to our partnership with Tata Steel. Together, we’ve been able to significantly lower CO2 emissions at the source, ensuring 90% Green Steel. That’s 90% more than any other radiator on the market, helping the radiator industry move towards a greener future. To put those CO2 savings into perspective, our Green Compact radiators save 50kg of CO2 emissions for a standard radiator which is the equivalent of driving a small car for 250 miles.
Zero-Plastic Packaging and Its Environmental Benefits
Whilst we’re actively improving the packaging across all our products to reduce environmental impact, we’re pleased that all our Green Series products use zero-plastic packaging. That means we only use cardboard and tissue paper to package them whilst maintaining the same level of protection to ensure your new radiator arrives safely. So, whether you want to reuse the packaging for another project or want to recycle it, you can, in the knowledge that you’re doing your part in saving the environment.
