Stelrad provides media update and launches new electric series

Leading radiator manufacturer Stelrad Radiators recently held a media update for all the relevant trade media editors at Lords Cricket Ground to bring the editors up to date with the latest market situation for radiators and to introduce the brand new electric radiators series it has launched into the UK marketplace.

More than thirty people sat down to hear the update from Head of Marketing Chris Harvey in the J P Morgan Media Centre – subject of many awards for its architecture and a stunning venue for a media briefing in the heart of London.

Chris provided market information covering sales of radiators and Stelrad’s market share across different types of radiators before unveiling the new range of electric radiators that have been introduced since Stelrad acquired DL Radiators in Italy last year.

“We like to get the editors together once a year to update them on the market and on our plans for the next twelve months as we seek to build on our already impressive market share,” said Chris Harvey. “It’s important at this time to reconfirm that our radiators are ‘fit for the future’ and ready to continue providing warmth in homes and buildings in the UK and Ireland. The revolution that is happening in the UK as far as heating our homes is concerned includes the massive increase in the sale of renewable heating systems driven by heat pumps in the main, and we have restructured our sales to enable radiators to continue to take a major percentage of the UK heating sectors emitter market. We have taken the lead in recent months to fight back against some serious misinformation being spread throughout the sector suggesting that underfloor heating systems are the only option for low temperature renewable heating systems. It’s simply untrue. Radiators are perfectly capable of heating homes with low temperature systems – so long as the radiators are sized properly for each room in the home and if insulation levels are appropriate for that kind of heating system. We have stepped up the manufacture of our K3 radiators that offer three panels and three sets of fins to increase the levels of comfort heating available from a similar sized radiator to a K2 format radiator by 50% from the same sized radiator footprint. In addition we are seeing a huge increase in the sales of our vertical radiators which can generate significantly more heat for the rooms they are located in.”

The presentation was followed by a question and answer session that saw more questions asked than usual that reflected the changing face of heating in the UK as we approach the decarbonisation of the heating sector and as we head towards Zero-Carbon status by 2050.

The meeting was followed by a tour of the ground that allowed the editors and guests to see many areas of the home of cricket, highlighting the remarkable history of the ground and the game itself. The group visited the Lords Museum and saw the genuine urn that holds the Ashes that England and Australia fight for on a regular basis, and they visited the Long Room, through which players walk on the way to the wicket in games, the home changing room and the balcony that the management team and players sit on to watch the games as they unfold.

“It was a huge success with the editors impressed by the venue we chose, the presentation to keep them up to date with what’s going on in the world of radiators and the unveiling of our new electric series which helps us maintain our message that Stelrad is a ‘one stop shop for all things radiators’,” says Chris Harvey. “We’ve maintained our tradition of getting the editors together once a year for an update that had to miss out for a couple of years because of the Covid-19 epidemic. This year we got back into the swing and it was good to meet and entertain the key people in the heating trade media again.”
